About Me

¡Bienvenidos!

Amy J. King is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Hispanic Studies at Texas A&M University, where she serves as an instructor of record for Lower Division Spanish Instruction as well as upper level courses. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Latin American Studies as well as a Master of Arts in Hispanic Studies from Stephen F. Austin State University. Her research explores Latin American and Spanish literature and culture, specifically canonical, religious, and revolutionary figures through a literary lens. Amy's dissertation was recently awarded the Texas A&M Dissertation Fellowship Award for 2022. 

Amy is the recipient of Texas A&M University's Graduate Teaching Consultant (GTC) Fellowship and works with the Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) to provide professional development and support opportunities to A&M's current and incoming graduate teaching assistants. Amy is also a Texas A&M University Graduate Mentoring Academy Fellow. In addition, she volunteers her time as a mentor for first generation students with A&M's Amig@s Program, International Student Services (ISS), and Liberal Arts Mentoring Program as well as first year students within the department. She also volunteers with The Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES) based in San Antonio, Texas.
